You just gotta do it, guys. Make it happen!!

You won't regret it.

I didn’t think it was possible. At least not for a really long time. Maybe when our Littles are in Jr High. Maybe even further down the timeline than that. High School??

Certainly not now. Certainly not this week.

It was a pipe dream. Impossible. Pie-in-the-sky type thing. We could never pull it off. No way.

But it happened. It really happened. And I am soooo glad it did.

A couple of weeks ago Vikki and I got back the longest trip we have been able to take together since our honeymoon. Actually, I think it was longer than our honeymoon. (We had two youngins at home waiting for us back then. Couldn’t stay away too long.)

It was AMAZING!!!!

With a house full of kids, we rarely get to focus solely on each other for an extended period of time.

Honestly, we weren’t totally able to focus only on each other the whole time we were away as I attended a conference for a couple days. But other than that, we were able to fully enjoy our time together.

Ahhh, it was marvelous.

I know what you are thinking.

“How in the world did you two get way when you have 11 kids at home and the youngest is 19 months old?”

It was simple. We filled the house with enough food for a week and locked the doors from the outside so no one could escape.

Ok, not really. It took a ton of planning, hard work, and the loving generosity of our oldest kids, my mom, and a wonderful friend that already has 5 kids of her own.

Even so, our best laid plans were uprooted by unexpected circumstances. That is pretty much a given though, right?

Anyhow, we had the time of our lives and the kids survived with only a few scratches and surface bruises.

Don’t tell anyone, but…we are secretly scheming our next impossible getaway. (maniacal laugh, maniacal laugh)

Word of Wisdom: Guys, if you haven’t been away with your lovely wife for a trip in a long time or maybe ever, do it! Soon!

Work out whatever details that have to be worked out. Blast away any obstacles that stand in your way. Make it happen.

Trust me. You will thank me later.
